Harried ad executive Frederick Bolton (Dean Jones) is in a quandary: His daughter desperately wants a horse, but he simply can't afford it; on top of that, his boss tells him he must invent an ad campaign for the company's newest product, a stomach pill called "Aspercel." Frederick decides the best thing to do is to buy a horse for his daughter and name it "Aspercel," the results aren't an immediate success.

The Black Stallion

Adapted from the children's book by Walter Farley, this exquisitely filmed animal-lovers' treat follows a boy named Alec (Kelly Reno) from shipwreck to winner's circle with the stunning horse that befriends him. Mickey Rooney was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as a trainer who encourages Alec to race with the stallion after the boy and his horse are rescued from a desert island and returned to their home.

The Derby Stallion

August 17th, 7:00 pm - Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (1991) - G

Based on a true story, this Disney family film chronicles the adventures of Depression-era teenager Sonora Webster (Gabrielle Anwar), who runs away from her foster home to join a carnival. Sonora is determined to become a diving girl, a performer who rides a trained horse as it dives from a high platform into deep water. Although she faces nearly universal adversity along the way, she refuses to give up and keeps fighting for her dreams.
